Not quite a state, but most certainly a wonderful capital of our country, is Washington D.C. The District of Columbia is a wonderful place to explore. Washington D.C.’s tourism board is not out for profit; in fact most attractions in Washington are free. The National Mall features many of the most recognizable national monuments, including the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Wall and the new World War II Monument. These attractions are also free.
Do you love museums? If you do and you have not experienced the Smithsonian you need to rectify this situation immediately. You see the Smithsonian is technically 19 museums, a zoo and large research center all rolled into one. Explore artifacts of this country’s history at the American History Museum, marvel at a stegosaurus skeleton at the Natural History Museum and look at the first airplane that the Wright Brothers flew when discovering flight at the National Air and Space Museum.
