Deliver critical respiratory care in a dynamic hospital environment as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. The specialist in this contract role will play an essential part in neonatal and pediatric patient care, demonstrating expertise in respiratory therapies, patient education, and high-acuity intervention in a Level 2 Special Care Nursery.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, or willingness to obtain
  • Proficiency in bar coding medication administration and Omnicell use
  • Previous experience in neonatal or pediatric respiratory care, particularly within a special care or NICU environment, is strongly preferred
  • Schedule/Hours:

  • Contract position; specific schedule details to be discussed during the interview process
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medicated aerosol therapies using small volume nebulizers and various aerosol delivery systems (MDI, DPI, holding chambers)
  • Educate patients and families on proper therapy techniques for aerosol, MDI, and DPI applications
  • Operate medication delivery equipment, including medication carts and Omnicell systems, ensuring accurate bar-coded medication administration
  • Perform airway management procedures such as suctioning, manual ventilation, and intubation assistance
  • Provide respiratory support for high-risk deliveries, including surfactant administration and following NRP protocols
  • Administer and monitor therapies including T-piece ventilation, humidified therapy, heated humidity, and usage of respiratory interfaces (aerosol masks, nasal cannula, oxygen masks)
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret blood gases for neonatal and pediatric patients
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize respiratory care outcomes
